BE HAPPY or BE SAD?

I attended a birthday party yesterday.

Examining the party since it’s started like watching the same movie but played by different actor and actress; using different props and at different location.

But the plot of the story is all the same. Small variations may be done on the plot of the story based on the ‘leading’ player (read as: the person whom the birthday party is intended to).

Should the happy person be HAPPY or actually should BE SAD on their birthday anniversary?

I was thinking myself yesterday. The happy person of the party I attended yesterday was not young anymore. When passing my 30’s, a strange way of thinking started to develop in my mind. At night before sleep on my birthday anniversary, I noticed that my time that I will spend in this world has already reduced by a year. Seeing the person that I love sleeping peacefully next to myself while the thought came out made me sad. More elderly I am going to be, the more sadness I will feel related to this thought and the sadness created fear inside.

Last night I was reminded of one of Paulo Coelho’s wisdom thoughts.

“We are always doing things for the first time.

While we move between our source (birth) to our destination (death), the landscape will always be new. We should face these novelties with joy, not with fear – because it is useless to fear what cannot be avoided. A river never stops running.”

I am impressed to the part “We should face these novelties with joy, not with fear – because it is useless to fear what cannot be avoided. A river never stops running.”

Before falling a sleep I build a strong will in my mind for not sad and fear over things that cannot be avoided as aging.
