make you feel my love

it was at the rooftop bar - somewhere (she doesn't want to reveal the place).
she said it was a very beautiful moment.
had a drink with her man, cloudy...., weather forecast was not promising.
she said only two of them at the rooftop bar.
then suddenly a slow pouring of tropical rain went down when then the bar-girl played this song.
sun was about completely set, the orange colour slightly remained, mixed with the grey-ish colour of the faded thunderstorm.

she said, "we starred each other, words would not be enough to express the feel. Perfect moment...., perfect drink...., perfect song....., perfect place. i want to preserve the moment forever. be with him as much as i can."

i know she is in love. therefore, i dedicated this post for you my dearest friend.

"make you feel my love" is a song originally written and performed by bob dylan, included in his thirteenth studio album time out of mind (1997).
It is a bluesy rock song, produced by daniel lanois, which describes the regret one may feel for not being with someone they love.
adele included a piano-driven cover version of the song in her debut studio album 19 (2008) and released it as the fifth single from the album.
adele’s version was produced by jim abbiss and performed well commercially.
below i gave both versions.

lyric:
when the rain is blowing in your face

and the whole world is on your case

i could offer you a warm embrace

to make you feel my love

when the evening shadows and the stars appear

and there is no one there to dry your tears

i could hold you for a million years

to make you feel my love

i know you haven't made your mind up yet

but I would never do you wrong

i've known it from the moment that we met

no doubt in my mind were you belong
i'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue

i'd go crawling down the avenue

no, there's nothing that I wouldn't do

to make you feel my love
the storms are raging on the rolling sea

and on the highway of regret

the winds of change are blowing wild and free

you ain't seen nothing like me yet
i could make you happy, make your dreams come true

nothing that I wouldn't do

go to the ends of the Earth for you

to make you feel my love
to make you feel my love

sicilienne - gabriel faure

i like gabriel faure since beginning. mostly the compositions i like is written in minor keys.
pie jesu, sicilienne, etc.

i personally, do not like watching movies/drama series. accidentally, one day i turn of the tv channel, and found a japanese musical drama titled: 'nodame cantabile'. i love the music. then, again accidentally when i need short movies for training, i visited http://www.viki.com, and found the korean version of nodame cantabile, which titled 'tomorrow cantabile'. i started following the series because of the music.

in one of the episode, the story focusing on a talented cellist who has tendon problem on his left hand, and he chose sicilienne as his last piece to perform.

sicilienne op.78, a composition of gabriel faure. actually it is part of incidental music (incidental music, can be translated as a 'background music') for molière's le bourgeois gentilhomme, the piece was never used for it. it was used as a solo for cello (or violin) with piano accompaniment. first published in 1898, it was dedicated to the British cellist william henry squire (1871-1963).

being just composed as a 'background music', this piece becoming a very popular classical music. many arrangements then came up for different instrument. solo guitar, solo piano, flute + piano, harp + flute, etc.

i attached herewith, a score for solo guitar:

below is a youtube clip, of the original version: cello + piano.

dream a little dream of me

if you are a piano lover, or even a pianist. perhaps you have heard about le ru ma (yiruma), a young korean pianist and composer (born: february 15, 1978). graduated from king's college london. perhaps one of his most famous piece is 'river flows in you' which inspired by samuel vallee (a french pianist and composer).

there are some of my yiruma's favourite. dream a little dream of me is one of them. the song itself was a song from 1931. the music was done by fabian andre and wilbur swachndt. lyrics was written by gus kahn. first recording, known was done in 1931.

besides, michael bubble version, i like robbie williams feat. lily allen version. this song is light, and easy to remember.

enjoy!

stars shining bright above you, night breezes seem to whisper, " i love you".
birds singing in the sycamore tree, "dream a little dream of me".
say "nighty-night" and kiss me. just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me.
while I'm alone and blue as can be, dream a little dream of me.

stars fading, but i linger on, dear.
still craving your kiss, I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear.
just saying this: Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you.
sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you.
but in your dreams whatever they be, dream a little dream of me.

stars fading, but i linger on, dear.
still craving your kiss, i'm longing to linger till dawn, dear.
just saying this: sweet dreams till sunbeams find you.
sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you.
but in your dreams whatever they be, dream a little dream of me.

take five

when i was a kid, i was amazed listening to this lively tunes. besides classical repertoires, jazz always captivate me. i think i have written in my previous post, my dad brought a lot of influence to my music appetite. he played many of world records during my kids time. so rich for a kid.

i was so happy when for the first time, i can play 'take five'. i felt like finding treasure when i found the piano score. i still remember it was during my 1st grade of middle school. it was a special fun for me when i tried to make records on my simple yamaha keyboard of take five.

the song is a jazz repertoire composed by Paul Desmond and recorded by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on 1959, it is part of The Dave Brubeck Quartet's album Time Out. many decades now, it is still a masterpiece of jazz collections. originally written in the E-flat minor key. The piano music score i attached herewith is also in E-flat minor.

somewhere out there

the lyrics of "Somewhere Out There" convey the love felt by two people separated by vast distances, but cheered by the belief that their love will eventually reunite them to be with each other once again. In the original theatrical production, the fictional characters singing "Somewhere Out There", Fievel and Tanya Mousekewitz, are brother and sister, and the love they share is described as general. however, in the more popular single version of the song, the love is described as more romantic.

this song was a potential Top 40 hit, and popularised by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram. originally written by James Horner, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

listening to this song, gave me courage to sail through the difficult time of living alone. Facing all most possible unhappy situation. he said, survival is the most important thing that I have to learn. And I am learning it now, at this moment and until when in the future I do not know. perhaps it is going to be a lifelong learning. knowing he is there supporting me from vast distance, put me in tears and smiles at the same time.

Somewhere out there
Beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me
And loving me tonight

Somewhere out there
Someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another
In that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

wait for me - aspetammi

several months ago i was introduced to the music of pink martini, a new york based group of music. they played, composed various kind of music into a very nice blended new atmosphere rich tunes for me, which is not overdo .... it is just nice! perfect nice....!

thomas f. lauderdale is the leader of the band, china forbes is their wonderful lady singer. one of my favorite tune is aspetammi (wait for me).

http://youtu.be/ld3AZyGWEgk

i was just back from a trip from a country where people wouldn't think i will come to visit. but finally i did. out of expectations, i could not explore much. my best friend who happened staying there for a 2 years period of 'giving back' service, was very sick. dengue..... the day i arrived was the first day of the bad fever started, followed by a painful headache....

everything happens for a reason....., i meant to be there, at the right time, at the right place ... even for the occasion that no one would like to be in. i meant to be here, to write a note again for my blog... sharing beautiful music and short story a chapter of my life.

one day, i will be back to that country.... i will walk along the beach, i will explore the surroundings, i will observe the people - many of them still living in poverties. lack of education, the government still struggling in finding the right formula to run the country... they are growing, they are developing, a process that will never end until the day when the world stop spinning....

on the aircraft that brought us out of the country, i looked at my friend face who tried to hold the pain, then i looked far away outside the window of the plane which start speeding to take off.....

aspetammi...., wait for me...., one day i come back to you....

how can i leave you again?

since i was a little girl, i have already been a big fan of john denver. my late dad is a country music lover, but he also listened to many music genres which brought me to a universal music listener.

my favorite song of john denver music are how can i leave you again, shanghai breeze, and sunshine on my shoulder.

amongst those 3 songs, i like best how can i leave you again

i was only 9 or 10 years old, when my dad played the record for the first time and then the movie of john denver sung this song.

until now, it is so difficult to hold my tears when listening to this song. it is not only the memories about my dad, but also caused by the song was sung beautifully and the lyric ...oooh it is strongly influenced me... especially in the time when i am in vague if the path i am taking is the correct one...

question the course that i follow
i am doubtful deep in despair
my heart is filled with impossible notions
can it be you no longer care?

but i have YOU and MOTHER MARY. on your hand i surrender my life. i should not be in doubt...., i should be thankful..., i should follow the path available in front of me and trust the compass shown by YOU...

mad world

mad world...., maybe these 2 words are very correct to describe the now days condition, especially in the hometown where i am living in, wider..... in the country where i am be the citizen...., and more wider...., in these universe....

i was driving in the morning today, was a bit late, to go to my office. traffic was not so heavy, when i reached an intersection, the traffic light from my side turned red. i stopped and suddenly noticed, sounds of klaxon horn being pushed hardly from the opposite side. i saw a man riding a modified motorbike fell down. modification of the motorbike is like the below picture.

the poor man hardly to raise his motorbike, but i think it is so heavy and he could not do it himself. while the other riders just watched and push their klaxon horn like crazy without any mercies to the poor man.

finally, a policeman came across the road helping the man. the expression of the poor man still recorded very clearly in my memory, he was upset....

this is a truly mad world

LYRICS:
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world ... mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

down by the sally garden

being inspired by the movie dancing at lughnasa, lately i am amazed with celtic song. one of the song that i like is "down by the sally gardens ". listening to this song make my dream to visit ireland getting bigger and bigger.

lyrics:
down by the sally gardens
my love and i did meet.
she passed the sally gardens
with little snow white feet.

she bid me take life easy
as the leaves grow on the trees.
but I being young and foolish,
with her did not agree.

in a field by the river
my love and i did stand.
and on my healing shoulder
she laid her snow white hand.

she bid me take love easy
as the grass grows on the weeds.
but i was young and foolish
and now i'm full of tears.

down by the sally gardens
my love and i did meet.
she passed the sally gardens
With little snow white feet.

she bid me take love easy
as the leaves grow on the trees,
but i was young and foolish

crisis ... crisis

the kid on the below picture is the grandson of the person who take care of my mountain house.
he is up to know is the only kid in the family.
spoiled, and do whatever he wants to do.

shouting and crying are his way to get attention or having what he wants. since i knew him, i and my man try to 'discipline' him.

whenever we spent time in this remote house he often visit us, have meals together and chit chat.

i feel like i am also holding the responsibility to put things right and to do right things.

just now, i told him for not wasting food. i don't know if he understood what i said, but at least he knew that wasting food is not good, many people such as in africa are now starving, even badly starving .... lack of food and nutrition.

while talking to him and enjoy our simple meals, i played th music of basil valdez - 'you'

whispering hope

sunday morning – 4th september, i was really surprised by a text from a dear friend, saying that somebody that we both know passed away.
she was 92 - when she died, yes…. pretty old, cancer…., but still her death bring emptiness to us.
she is a very independent woman, and very kind. she is a figure who feel 'cured' by songs. she loves singing and telling stories of her life experience.
one of her favorite song is whispering hope, which was the last song that she sang with my friend when she was being treated in a clinic.
she will remain in our memory, living there forever.
as a remembrance of her, I share story about whispering hope.

this beautiful and popular song was written by septimus winner (1827 – 1902).
septimus' father was a violin maker. after attending philadelphia's central high school,

septimus and one of his brothers formed a music publishing business. by age of 20, he was also running his own music shop. he then became a popular music instructor in philadelphia, giving lessons in violin, guitar, and banjo and also do performance with several of the city's bands and orchestras.

was told that most interesting experience in his life occurred in 1862, after abraham lincoln had fired general george b. mcclellan for delays in attacking the confederate army. the firing of mcclellan angered.
septimus who quickly published a song entitled, "give us back our old commander: little mac, the people's pride." the song sold over 80,000 copies in the first couple of days, leading to his detained for treason. he was released when he agreed to destroy all the remaining copies of the song and apologized.

septimus winner produced over two hundred instructional books for more than twenty instruments, he wrote thousands of musical arrangements.
whispering hope being the work he will most be remembered by.
septimus was inducted into the songwriters hall of fame in 1970.

septimus winner based this beautiful hymn "whispering hope," on Hebrews 6:19, 1thessalonians 5:8 and hebrews 12:1. the hymn was published in 1868, and was the last popular song he wrote before he died.

"which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the

veil." hebrews 6: 19

lyrics:
  1. soft as the voice of an angel,
    breathing a lesson unheard,
    hope with a gentle persuasion
    whispers her comforting word:
wait till the darkness is over,
wait till the tempest is done,
    hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
    after the shower is gone.

  2. refrain:
    • whispering hope, oh, how welcome thy voice,
making my heart in its sorrow rejoice.
  3. if, in the dusk of the twilight,
    dim be the region afar,
    will not the deepening darkness
    brighten the glimmering star?
then when the night is upon us,
why should the heart sink away?
when the dark midnight is over,
watch for the breaking of day.
  4. hope, as an anchor so steadfast,
rends the dark veil for the soul,
    whither the master has entered,
    robbing the grave of its goal;
come then, oh, come, glad fruition,
    come to my sad weary heart;
come, O thou blest hope of glory,
    never, oh, never depart.

early morning big fight

i was driving to my office earlier today, when at a glance i saw two dogs - one big and one medium size playing on something on the sidewalk. i was curious of what they were playing at, as I saw it looked like jumping. so i was slowing down and move to that sidewalk. i was surprised seeing the object that 2 dogs playing at, is a mouse. this mouse fighting back those 2 dogs bravely. but after a short while a kick from the big dog made the game finish.
i felt sorry for that mouse but seeing the way it fought, make me thinking along the way..., we should fight hardly and bravely for what we want, if we ended die like that mouse, it was a destiny, but i think we should fight and keep fighting.
my feeling was not good lately, being separated from my love ones is a big challenge.
but he and me, we both should fight to overcome the situation. keep on fighting for what we want.

and the correct song that i offer for that brave mouse is: ben - michael jackson

sad song

composed a very sad lyric for a very sad song
do not know if the song can be accomplished or remain unfinished
to sad to continue stepping the path of the future
as i know you will be separated from me

will you remember me?
will you keep me in your heart?
will i be part of you? or i will be forgotten?

but life should be continued
life should be continued
whatever it is..... it should be continued

music and technology

music and technology, now days can not be separated at least for me.
like today, i started building a page on my facebook account for 'muziek for everyone'.
being abroad for 4 days now (on assignment) my eyes were just openned to see the color of this life, how beautiful and painful it is.

the course that i took, brought me to a more sophisticated new gadget information and knowledge to cater my creativity and eagerness of technology (computer and mobility technology), while the people i saw and met taught me the lesson of adopting more the value that i want to add to my personal life.

eyes don't tell lies

i was in a cafe waiting for a cup of cappucinno before giving a volunteer music class, when i saw a piece of paper laying under the table. always don't like seeing rubbish scattered around  i pick it up and saw a beautiful handwriting on that paper.
this is what was written there (actually it is written in bahasa indonesia, i translated here):

a pair of eyes looking back at me on that mirror:
a pair of eyes full of despair and sorrow
a pair of eyes that losing trust and hope
no tears as why should cry?
the wound already there anyway, leaving scars slowly deepen and deepen..
no one could cure, but me

i think it must be related to love (too judgemental? ..... i don't know), as love is the only things who bring unbearable painfulness in this world. i never trust there is a true love in this world (lol).

(my tweet today: focusing on what is being done and what should be done for others happiness, let the anger and hurts away. have a big heart and mind!)

anyway....., that handwriting brought my memory back to a song by peabo bryson and roberta flack back to 1983 (i guess). the title of the song is 'maybe'. i always love this song.

here is the lyric:

if we both decide to try and make it one more time
i hope we take the time to know each other well
and if the answers don't come quick we'll go with how it feels
and sometimes that's not yes or no but

maybe there'll be no falling stars this time around
i still believe that
honesty is all we'll ever need
you and me again, maybe

you keep asking me if i will love you for all time
if two of us will be enough to make it strong
and if we learn to keep it free and let each other grow
we'll find out there's no yes or no just

maybe there'll be no falling stars this time around
i still believe that
honesty is all we'll ever need
can we make it through, maybe

no candles or guitar this time around [this time around]
i still believe that
honesty is all we'll ever need [all we'll need]
you and me again [maybe]
maybe

maybe there'll be no falling stars this time around [this time around]
i still believe that
honesty is all we'll ever need
[till fade]

song writing

it has been many months, since i started to write songs. some of them are intended for worships, some are for friend's special occasions.

the process of my song writing are very helped with garageband by apple. it has plenty of instrument choices or apple loops to be used in the arrangement.

few months back i bought a small keyboard by m-audio, i chose the avid keystudio, which cost only around usd129 but give a lot of assistance in my creative process.

this keyboard is a dumb keyboard, it only function if you connect it to computer with song writer software (in my case: garageband on my mac).

now, apple released the garageband for ipad. and i am in love with this little software. in my experience in many cases i lost melodies as i don't have any tools to write or record it.
however i miss the numbers of instrument choices and apple loops from the garageband laptop version. the garageband for ipad is compatible both for ipad or ipad2. and it cost me less than usd 5 to have it.
