NEVER TOO LATE TO START NEW THINGS

I was looking for my collection of my favorite music scores, when I found a very basic ‘How to Play Flute” books. The book was sent by a friend of my elder sister from Holland some years ago with a cassette of Berdien Stenberg flute playing. She is a well-known Dutch flautist. Seeing that book, made me challenged to take my flute again.

And last night, after so many years…….., I started blowing my flute again. I am really a beginner, but I found last night was really amazing. I did not find any difficulties like what I experienced when I finally gave up.

When taking out the instrument from its box I was so sad and my heart full of regret, since it looks shabby already. I did not take care of it for many years. Then I started to rub it and finally it gets its shiny back.

I hardly did saving to be able buying flute. I still remember, why I becoming a fans of the instrument. I was watching a jazz band performance on the television, and stunning by the flickering of the flute played by the flautist.

But unfortunately, I did not have any passion in learning it. It is not easy to get flute teacher here in my place during those periods.

Several weeks ago, a moderator of a mailing list that I join started a topic about “life begins at forty”. He got his doctoral degree scholarship on his 40’s birthday. And many members of the list shared their thoughts and experiences related to start doing things on their really mature ages.

Maybe being inspired by them, I also found ease to start practicing flute again. I hope……………..

Then……, I can say “Never too late to start new things”
