Summer Samba and Holy Spirit Minor Seminary - Tuka Bali

Well well..... you must be thinking the title of my post this time is weird..... :D

I am responsible for what I wrote and I have the explanation of why I picked that title.

But first, let me explore about the song. Summer Samba is a song originally written by a Brazilian composer Marcos Valle. The English lyrics is written by Norman Gimbell, while the Portugese version Lyrics written by Marcos Valle's brother: Paulo Sergio Valle.

The song first popularized by Walter Wanderley Trio and then many popular jazz singer also sang the song and recorded. Connie Francis, Diana Krall, Stacey Kent, Johnny Mathis, Astrud Gilberto and........ I don't know who else.

I like best the Stacey Kent's version for this song. She sang the song a bit slow compared to the original version.

Now, what is the relation of this song with the Holy Spirit Minor Seminary Tuka - Bali?
Yesterday I had a chance visiting the Holy Spirit Minor Seminary located in a small village near Denpasar - Bali. The place is still having their extension development project.

While walking around the place, Stacey Kent kept on 'singing' the Summer Samba or So Nice in my head. I don't know, that song has already been inside my mind for several days.

So nice, life would be so nice
If one day I'd find
Someone who would take my hand
And samba through life with me

Someone to cling to me
Stay with me right or wrong
Someone to sing to me
Some little samba song
Someone to take my heart
And give his heart to me
Someone who's ready to
Give love a start with me

What bothered me? Is that somebody that will stay with me right or wrong?
Human are very weak. Kindhearted people will be loved whilst the opposite will be left immediately. Is there somebody that will stay like what the lyrics of the song said??

While seeing the cross on the church and realized the body attached to it; I know who Somebody that will stay with me right or wrong. I do not need to wait ...... One day...., I have Him already, but just don't realize.

Found the answer, I spread a big smile. My foot stepping lightly after wards. I took several pictures of the place. (shared here for you)

BTW, I admired the concept of the new extension of the seminary.
I think when it finished it will be a good place for children who choose to serve people by being a priest. They still need support to finish the project. Wanted to know more? Why don't you visit their website: http://www.bali-seminary.org/

When writing this post, Stacey Kent still 'singing' the song for me. But now, my heart feel so good, as I know the answer to what made me thinking hardly.

My friend laughing out loud when I showed her what I am doing now, she said it is just a song why be so much bothered?

Indeed, it is just a song, but the song influenced me a lot. So.................???

COUNTRY MUSIC

Before, I have never really paid attention to country music.
Country music only passed my ear, and did not stay in my mind like other music genres for example jazz and classical.

Watching the American Idol program few days ago which took Country Music as a theme, I suddenly falling in love with country music.

The duet performed by Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood, singing Randy Travis' hits "I Told You So" made my heart melting.

It was just so beautiful. I could not explain in words.

Just watch the show! I attached the link here.

LYRICS:
Suppose I called you up tonight and told you that I loved you
And suppose I said "I wanna come back home".
And suppose I cried and said "I think I finally learned my lesson"
And I'm tired a-spendin' all my time alone.

If I told you that I realised you're all I ever wanted
And it's killin' me to be so far away.
Would you tell me that you loved me too and would we cry together?
Or would you simply laugh at me and say:

"I told you so, oh I told you so
I told you some day you come crawling back and asking me to take you in
I told you so, but you had to go
Now I found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again".

If I got down on my knees and told you I was yours forever
Would you get down on yours to and take my hand?
Would we get that old time feelin', would we laugh and talk for hours
The way we did when our love first began?

Would you tell me that you'd missed me too and that you'd been so lonely
And you waited for the day that I return.
And we'd live in love forever and that I'm your one and only
Or would you say the tables finally turned?

Would you say:

"I told you so, oh I told you so
I told you some day you come crawling back and asking me to take you in
I told you so, but you had to go
Now I found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again".

"Now I found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again".

The Sheltering Sky

I admire Ryuichi Sakamoto. When listening to his music, somehow very easily I can be connected to the tunes. I like the syncopation he has in some of his famous composition, like what you can find in this "The Sheltering Sky".

The Sheltering Sky is a movie directed by the famous Bernardo Bertolucci - 1990.
The plot of the movie is about American artist couple Port and Kit Moresby travels aimless through Africa, searching for new experiences that could give new sense to their relationship. But the flight to distant regions leads both only deeper into despair.

You've Got a Friend

When youre down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
Ill come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Youve got a friend.

If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
Ill come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, aint it good to know that youve got a friend?
People can be so cold.
Theyll hurt you and desert you.
Well theyll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but dont you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
Ill come running to see you again.
Oh babe, dont you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all youve got to do is call.
Lord, Ill be there, yes I will.
Youve got a friend.
Youve got a friend.
Aint it good to know youve got a friend.
Aint it good to know youve got a friend.
Youve got a friend.
